When looking for a supplier or manufacturer, companies want value and usually that value is determined by cost. Honestly, getting a deep drawn supplier or manufacturer is more than just looking at the bottom line. It’s important to look at what makes up that bottom line, are you looking at all costs associated or just standard part cost don’t make a mistake and understate your bottom line by looking only by having tunnel vision. In terms of deep drawn parts, value is quality of material, workmanship and quality control.

Certainly part cost has a role to play but there is more to deep drawn parts than just part costs. Looking at the bottom line and being willing to pay a little more upfront can save you a lot of time and money by avoiding high intangible costs that may be more prevalent in an overseas supplier.

Knowledge and Experience

Quality is a word that is bantered about frequently, but in order to make quality deep drawn parts for your company, the manufacturer has to have the knowledge and experience to make sure your part meets your exact specifications and the role that part must play for your company. Not all metals are created equal, some brass for example is better than other brass, knowing the difference when producing your part creates value for your company, in a better made products. It takes experience to get each and every part perfect, each and every time and that is difficult to quantify with a only a piece part cost based analysis.

Workmanship

Some deep drawn manufacturers produce parts and some create works of art. Creating excellent and perfect deep drawn parts is more than just a machine. It is the fusion of operator and machine that creates the quality deep drawn part for your company. Treating your parts or tools as if it was as important to them as it is to you is what separates just a deep drawn part from what is superb workmanship. It is obvious as to which one generates more value for you and your customers.

Cost is part of the equation but cost effectiveness is critical and quality of materials, quality control and workmanship are what separate the two. The right deep drawn manufacturer is about more than just a part cost analysis it is a value oriented partnership that works well for both companies and where the total cost and bottom line make sense.
